Chippenham war memorial stands in the churchyard, in front of St.Margaret's, High Street, Chippenham. It takes the form of an octagonal shafted cross on square base, with
inset bronze plaques with names of the war dead, raised on stepped plinth, standing on a deep stone base.
The square plinth bears two bronze plaques: the front face bears the names of 21 men who fell in WW1; the right face bears the names of 5 men who fell in WW2.
In both lists, the names are arranged in surname alphabetical order, listing first name, any other initials, and surname. No ranks or units are given.
The front facing plaque bears, above the names, the inscription "Erected to the memory of the men of this parish who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1919".
The plaque on the right face has above the names "This tablet was added to the memory of the men of this parish who gave their lives in the second world war 1939-1945"
